I am a Ph.D. student in Dr. Martin Ackermann's lab. My research interests are concerned with the evolutionary causes and consequences of phenotypic variation. I use experimental evolution with Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium to test the hypothesis that organisms can respond readily to selection for variation in one particular trait.
2005 to Present
PhD at ETH Zürich with Martin Ackermann
2002-2005
Molecular biologist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA.
This lab's focus is on developing and using molecular techniques (microarray, real time PCR, etc) to detect respiratory viruses and bacteria in clinical specimens.
2000-2002
Masters at the University of California San Diego in Chris Wills' Lab. My thesis was concerned with the possible adaptive function of variable repetitive repeats of DNA in genes involved in pathogenicity in the yeast Candida albicans.
1996- 2000
BSc at the University of California San Diego. Majored in Biochemistry/Cell Biology.
